Luba Slome Leadership

Dr. Isaac V. Perle, Luba Slome President and Founder

Dr. Perle graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979 and has been running a private dental practice in Brookline, MA, since 1980. He has served on the faculty of both the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the Forsyth Dental Center, and is currently serving as a mentor in Boston University's APEX program. Dr. Perle (with the help of former Jerusalem mayor Teddy Kollek and the South African Israel Appeal) founded the Luba Slome Dental Center in 1985 and has served as its president since. Dr. Perle is a member of the ADA, the Massachusetts Dental Association and the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, as well as serving on the Boards of several prestigious philanthropic organizations.


Judy Yehezkel, Executive Director


Judy came to Israel from England in 1984, and since then has been working in the dental field. After four years in a private dental clinic, Judy joined the Luba Slome Dental Center in 1990 and has been with Luba Slome since. As executive director, Judy ensures the smooth running of the clinic on a day-to-day basis, overseeing all office and organizational functions including the calculation of the clinic budget, payment of salaries, production of annual reports, and contact with government authorities. Judy oversaw the major design and renovation of the center in 2006.




Dr. Joshua Joseph Rubin, DDS, Clinical Director

Dr. Rubin graduated from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland, as a DDS in 2002 and earned a degree in Advanced General Dentistry in 2004. He participated in two delegations devoted to dental hygiene instruction to village children in India in 2000-2001, and in 2004 worked with Healthcare for the Homeless. After working in the Oral Surgery Department at the Jackson Hospital, Miami, and as a private practice associate in a general practice office and in the John-Hopkins Medical Complex, Dr. Rubin made aliyah with his family in 2007 and joined the staff of the Luba Slome Dental Center. As from September 2012 serves as clinical director of the clinic.




Dr. David Felbert, DDS


Dr. Felbert was born and educated in Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 1992 as a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and came to Israel the following year. After working in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery in the Poriya Hospital in Tiberius and in the Department of Oral Medicine at the Hadassah University Hospital, Dr. Felbert joined the staff of the Luba Slome Dental Center in 1995 and has been with the center since. Dr. Felbert brings to the center and his patients his wide expertise in the fields of General Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, Prosthetics, Endodontics, Minor Oral Surgery and Surgical Implantation.


Dr. Howard Metz, DMD

Dr. Howard J. Metz is a graduate of Yeshiva University in New York where he earned a B.A. is Theatre Arts in 1983. In 1987 he completed his degree in dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania, and since arriving in Israel shortly afterward he has practiced at the Luba Slome Dental Center. Dr. Metz has, in addition, worked at the Elwyn Institute with mentally disabled patients, and with special needs children at the Eddie Shore kindergarten in Jerusalem. In 2008, he founded a new multi-dentist practice in Ramat Neriya, Beit Shemesh. He is married with two children, and volunteers his time both as a community theatre performer and as a board member in the Jerusalem English Speaking Theatre.


Revital Cohen, Head Secretary


Revital Cohen is a Jerusalem resident and mother of five who has worked at Luba Slome since 2000. During her thirteen years at the Center, Revital has been involved in many aspects of the organization, and since 2007 has overseen and managed the clinic's reception desk and administered the center's educational programs.




Orit Biham, Head Hygienist

Orit was educated at Mevo'ot Iron near Kibbutz Ein Shemer and at the Hebrew University Hadassah Dental School. She trained as an early childhood teacher assistant and as a dental hygienist. Since graduating in 1987, she has been working as a dental hygienist with various dentists, and for the past 15 years has been with the Luba Slome Dental Center. For the past three years she had also been involved in implementing the educational programs of the clinic, educating children and their parents about proper hygiene practices.



Sarah Amar, Head Dental Assistant


Sarah Amar became the Head Dental Assistant at Luba Slome in 2000. After moving to Israel from France in 1994, Sarah graduated from the dental assistants' course at Hadassah in 1996 and has been working at Luba Slome since 1998 with various clinical responsibilities. She lives with her husband and four children in Jerusalem.
